How to Cook the Perfect Steak!

I call this “THE GREAT SIRLOIN STEAK” for a reason! My step-dad (Roxanne’s) Mel Hyland always wanted his steak fried in butter, I couldn’t understand this until, well much more maturity was under my belt. My cousin Jack Bunney posted this particular recipe on Facebook I think it is Gordon Ramsay’s, it was the key to getting mouthwatering steaks!

Start with bringing your steak to room temperature, about 30 minutes out of the fridge.

Then heavily season your steaks with salt and pepper.

I love cooking in my cast iron skillet, so if you have one use it! Heat it on high!! Add a small drizzle of oil, maybe a Tablespoon and gently place the steaks in the skillet. Use tongs to flip the steaks, you will want one minute per side. At the two minute marker, I will add a bruised garlic clove or two in the pan and rub it all over the steak. Then I will add a Tablespoon of butter for each steak and let it melt into the steak after a fresh flip. For a medium rare cook I will cook my steaks for about 5 minutes (I like my steaks custom cut at 3/4 inch thick). Please don’t forget to cook the edge of the steak and make the fat crispy!!!

Take them off and don’t forget to let them rest a moment, then enjoy every morsel!!
